We fenced in a new area of the property and got some of the older girls put in it today. How quickly they forgot about the cookies in the bucket used to lead them up there. As soon as they saw all the green stuff to eat, they took off running. Very happy goats!!

Here in East Tennessee we have been getting a lot of snow lately. These are pictures from the latest snow storm that put about 5-6 inches on the ground.

Tribute to Emmett Kelly

We lost Emmett Kelly yesterday. He was our sweetest goat. He looked like a little puppy when he was born. He had ears that he never quite grew into. Everyone loved him. You couldn't help it.

I believe he had bloat. But I'm not sure. He was not happy in with Rambo's herd, so we recently moved him into Hercules' herd with the younger goats. He seemed OK, then he was gone.

We love and miss you Emmett.

White Christmas

We had a White Christmas and there is nothing better than pictures of the goats in the snow.
Their fur has gotten real thick this winter so they were ready for the snow. They look so cute in the snow.

Here are our 2 boys Hercules on the left and Rambo on the right.

We are in the middle of breeding season (the first one for Hercules) and if you know anything about male goats, then you know that you can now smell them from several blocks away!!

They look nice and clean here, but now Rambo has a yellow beard and it looks like it is dripping all the time. Apparently male goat urine is like Brut to the girls. They love the aroma, or the boys just think that they love it.
Hercules is trying, but he doesn't have enough of a beard yet. He'll get there.

As you can tell by their pictures, they are not shy with cameras (or girls).
They are very handsome now (just ask them) but they were once cute little babies.

Fiona

When I bought these 2 goats to clear a field for my mini donkeys, I did not realize you can become addicted to them. But then the babies arrived. Yuki gave us twins (Rosie and Jasper) on Fed 29 and Blaze gave us Fiona on Mar 1. That was a few years ago. We now have 14 goats and counting.
